Tennessee Proclaims Laryngeal Cleft Awareness Day
LCN is excited to announce that Oct. 28, 2025, has been proclaimed Laryngeal Cleft Awareness Day in the state of Tennessee. This marks an important step forward in raising awareness of this congenital birth defect, and we are grateful to Gov. Bill Lee for issuing the proclamation.
The proclamation was requested and facilitated by laryngeal cleft parent Kristin:
“Two of our boys were born with a laryngeal cleft, and we’ve seen firsthand how misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and underdiagnosed this condition can be. With 10 years between their births it’s disheartening to see that not much has changed in our area when it comes to awareness or early recognition. We requested this proclamation to help bring attention to the challenges families like ours face to encourage better education for medical professionals, and to remind others that awareness can lead to earlier intervention and better outcomes for these children.”
Thank you, Kristin and family, for your efforts to raise awareness of laryngeal clefts. Our community appreciates you!
