Texas Proclaims Laryngeal Cleft Awareness Day

LCN is excited to announce that Nov. 15, 2025, has been proclaimed Laryngeal Cleft Awareness Day in the state of Texas. This marks an important step forward in raising awareness of this congenital birth defect, and we are grateful to Gov. Greg Abbott for issuing the proclamation.

The proclamation was requested and facilitated by laryngeal cleft parent Taylor:

“After three years of unanswered questions, my son Kasyn’s type 1 laryngeal cleft diagnosis finally gave us clarity about his struggles with breathing and swallowing. I reached out to Gov. Abbott using the wording provided by the Laryngeal Cleft Network’s website, honestly believing it was just a hopeful attempt.

When I opened my mailbox and saw that Gov. Abbott and the State of Texas had officially proclaimed November 15 as Texas’ first Laryngeal Cleft Day, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. It felt like a moment of recognition not only for my son, but for every child and family who has walked this difficult path. I am deeply thankful to Gov. Abbott and the Laryngeal Cleft Network for helping bring awareness and a voice to our community.”

Thank you, Taylor and Kasyn, for your efforts to raise awareness of laryngeal clefts. Our community appreciates you!
