How to Find a Volunteer Position

  1. Browse Opportunities – Explore our available volunteer roles and find one (or more!) that interests you.

  2. Express Interest – Fill out the I’m Interested form so we know which role(s) you’d like to learn more about.

  3. Get Details – An LCN team member will email a detailed job description within 48 hours.

  4. Meet Virtually – If the position seems like a good fit, we’ll schedule a short virtual interview to get to know you and answer your questions.

  5. Onboarding – Once selected, we’ll guide you through an organized and supportive onboarding process so you can start your volunteer work with confidence. See Volunteer FAQs for more information.

Volunteer Position Types and Time Requirements

We’ve designed the LCN Volunteer Program to allow even the busiest person to get involved. The program offers three levels of time commitments:

Committee Member: 1-2 hours/month
Manager: 1-5 hours/month
Director: 5-10+ hours/month

Committee Member Positions

  • Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/month
    Department: Social Media

    The Social Media/Awareness Committee Member contributes to LCN’s online presence by creating and refining content that is medically accurate, engaging, and supportive of the laryngeal cleft community. Each committee member commits to producing one piece of original social media content every two months. Content topics will be assigned by the Social Media Strategy Manager and tailored to each member’s strengths and interests.

    This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with a focus on producing quality content that strengthens community connections and advances LCN’s mission.

Manager Positions

  • Time Commitment: 1-5 hours/month
    Department: Communications

    The Educational Materials Manager helps create and share clear, medically accurate, and easy-to-read resources that support families and providers in our community. This person works with LCN team members to gather information, refine drafts, and publish materials that are professional, approachable, and accurate.

    This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and creative, with a focus on producing educational resources that make information accessible and useful for families and providers.

  • Time Commitment: Flexible

    Department: Operations

    The Asset Manager oversees some of LCN’s most important assets: our amazing volunteers and awareness-building merchandise. This person coordinates volunteer onboarding, scheduling, and engagement, as well as manages the store and designs merchandise to keep products organized, appealing, and ready for supporters. 

    This role is ideal for someone who is organized, personable, and creative, with a focus on supporting our volunteers and expanding the reach of our merchandise.

  • Time Commitment: 1-5 hours/month
    Department: Outreach

    The Support Group Manager facilitates a virtual support group for members of the laryngeal cleft community, creating a safe, non-judgmental space that encourages open communication, experience-sharing, and discussion of coping strategies. This person guides and supports group discussions while encouraging mutual support and providing resources as needed.

    This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, compassionate, and a strong communicator, with a focus on fostering a supportive and engaged online community.

  • Time Commitment: 5 hours/month
    Department: Social Media

    The Social Media Engagement Manager helps foster a vibrant and supportive online community across several platforms, including TikTok and LCN’s Facebook Community. This person fosters audience interaction, creates TikTok content, and builds relationships while ensuring all engagement reflects LCN’s mission and brand.

    This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, creative, and organized, with a focus on growing LCN’s digital presence and strengthening connections with the community.

  • Time Commitment: 5 hours/month
    Department: Social Media

    The Social Media Strategy Manager oversees LCN’s presence on Facebook and Instagram. This person leads strategic planning, calendar creation, content scheduling, and performance tracking to grow our online presence and strengthen relationships with the community. They also assign content creation to Social Media Committee Members to ensure content is well-coordinated and aligned with LCN’s goals.

    This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and creative, with a focus on developing a cohesive and mission-driven digital strategy.
