Journeys
Journey and Photo Submissions
Sharing journeys is important. Each family’s cleft journey is unique, and there’s so much we can learn from each other. Stories help raise awareness, offer insight, and give hope when it is needed most.
Consider Including:
symptoms
the road to diagnosis
treatments and procedures
state(s) in which the hero was born and received care
images (no more than 10)
please share your journey in 2,000 words or less
Timeframe: If your journey includes a cleft repair, please wait to submit it at least 6 months after the repair in order to capture the complete story, including the full recovery process and any post-repair developments or complications.
Cleft Types: LCN categorizes journeys based on either of the two most commonly used LC classification systems.
Severe Clefts: Types 3 and 4 journeys must include a surgical report (PDF) that details the cleft type and repair method. This information will be used to ensure we are accurately categorizing your journey and will not be published.
Providers/Facilities: LCN does not vet, endorse, or publish the names of specific providers or facilities in hero journeys. Parents may recommend a medical professional in the Provider Directory, which is accessible to parents and adult patients only.
