Tara Dicks
Tara is a mother of two — one daughter and an angel baby boy. She was unexpectedly introduced to the laryngeal cleft world when her son, Maxi, was born in September 2024 with a type 4 cleft, which he tragically did not survive. What began as a complex medical journey became, in turn, her grief journey.
While Tara would never wish this path on any parent, she has found purpose in honoring Maxi’s life by supporting other families facing the unimaginable. Through her role in bereavement support, she strives to be a compassionate source of understanding, connection, and comfort to those navigating loss.
Originally born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tara moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 2009 to pursue a degree in International Business. She brings a professional background in operations, communications, and startup expansion to her volunteer work.
Outside of her advocacy, Tara enjoys traveling with her family, cooking, hiking, Pilates, and spending meaningful time with friends.
