Conclusion
“Although dysphagia is the most common presenting symptom discussed in laryngeal cleft literature, here we establish that pulmonary symptoms and abnormal chest radiographs are common among patients that require endoscopic repair of LC1. History of pneumonia is associated with older age at the time of laryngeal cleft diagnosis and surgery. Evaluation for swallowing dysfunction and subsequently for laryngeal cleft should be considered early in young patients presenting with persistent or recurrent respiratory symptoms.”
